Awesome Pork Dishes @ OldSchool, The School Jaya One

We were at Jaya One hunting for dinner the other night when we excitedly found OldSchool actually opened for business already! I've heard a lot about the shop from Yve Vonn and have been wanting to give the restaurant a try!
The restaurant has two main highlights - Malaysian school theme and a porky theme as their menu features mainly dishes with pork.
The entire design of the restaurant is lovely, reminding you of your school classroom and canteen! Cute mural paintings, old school snacks that brings you down the memory lane all over again and the menu that comes in a form of exercise book, fully hand-written too! If I were them, I would be giving out free pre-meal snacks like 'Ah Tap Chee' biscuits or something like that!
Mind you, even their service staff dress-up in not-so-Malaysian school uniforms and the manager was in Principal suit! So damn cool lor!!!
Range of food on the menu looks very complete! From snacks, sandwiches, Western dishes up till some really homey Malaysian dishes like Nasi Lemak, Prawn Noodle and Pork Noodles Soup. Of course you would expect pork in almost all dishes, including the Nasi Lemak!
Chinese Tea, RM2.
Cotton-soft Char Siew Bao, RM6.90.
We had the Cotton-Soft Char Siew Bao as a starter which was quite decent, although really not the best Char Siew Bao I've tried. But the less-fat meat makes it a little homey, like your mum made it with love cos she wants you to be healthier. LOL.
Roasted Pork Curry Laksa, RM14.90.
OldSchool Fried Rice, RM15.90.
As for mains, we had a Roasted Pork Curry Laksa and OldSchool Fried Rice. We are totally in love with the thick and flavourful Curry Laksa soup. It was satisfying both visually and and 'tastebudly'. LOL. Only complain? The main character, the Roast Pork turns out to be very soggy and cold. The fried rice was very delicious with enough 'wok hei' and great mixture of ingredients like Char Siew, prawns, eggs, chopped long beans plus an awesome Char Siew and long beans omelet on top. Oh-so-yummy! Portions for the dishes are big too so we were super full after everything! Phew~!
Us adding more weight to ourselves and the baby boy in me! :p
With a 10% service charge, the bill came up to RM43.65, which I consider still reasonable, judging from the portion and quality. We are definitely going back for more! :)
