Hearty Non-Halal Brunch @ Epicuro, Damansara Uptown

I think one of the biggest trends in KL city recently is the growing number of non-halal cafes, selling wholesome dishes with pork as the compulsory ingredient. Undeniably, this is quite a good news to us who consume pork, as these independent cafes gives the big names like SWine a run for their money. In fact, a lot of them, like J&D Espresso serves better food at more affordable prices than the former!
One of the latest addition to the line of non-halal cafes is Epicuro, which is conveniently located at the front row of Damansara Uptown, facing the LDP.
The black and yellow themed cafe stands out in terms of branding, coziness and quiet neighbourhood. Parking was a breeze when we were there at around 10ish on a Saturday morning and that was a big plus point for the little cafe.
Menu wise, I was very glad to find that we can order the other main courses aside from the breakfast menu in the morning because Deardo doesn't normally fancy breakfast sets. So I still picked a breakfast while he had a main.
Big Breakfast, RM21.80.
Pork Chops, RM28.80.
The Big Breakfast is probably one of the more reasonably-priced ones in town. While the scrambled eggs can definitely be better and the hash browns (2 pieces!) can be of better quality, the dish managed to score some points in their pork sausage, bacon and very nicely done sauteed mushrooms and cherry tomatoes. Love the hearty toast a lot too! Overall, may not be the best Big Breakfast I've tried, but definitely worth a try. The Pork Chops were grilled to perfection, making it very flavourful and tender. The mushrooms gravy, while doesn't look impressive, compliments the pork chops pretty well. The dish comes with a side salad and potato salad.
Latte, RM10.
We had a Latte to share but it was nothing to shout about.
Since Deardo took more pictures of me and since they look good! :p
The cafe has yet to charge any service charges or taxes at the moment, so the bill came up to RM60.80, which is very reasonable. I'm certainly going back to check out their other dishes like the pastas that look pretty awesome in pictures!
